Let’s Get Real, self-care has become the buzzword of the century. Everyone talks about it, yet so many of us still feel overwhelmed, out of sync, or just plain exhausted. The reason? True self-care isn’t just about bubble baths and candles (though they’re marvelous); it’s about holistic alignment, tending to our physical health, nurturing our emotional well-being, and elevating our Spiritual vitality…a BEAUTIFUL BALANCE! Sprinkle in a little herbal maintenance, and you’ve got yourself a powerhouse routine for health and wellness. Are you ready to dive in? Go grab your journal and let’s explore how to elevate your self-care game with intentional practices and a dash of nature’s wisdom this month of March!
Your body (physical vessel) is your home, and like any well-kept house, it thrives on consistent maintenance and upkeep. But here’s the catch: maintenance doesn’t have to feel like a chore! It should be FUN, fluid, and reliable. Here are 3 of my favorite daily maintenances that I use often:
1. A Morning Ritual: Begin your day with a tall glass of water infused with a slice of lemon or a pinch of cayenne to awaken your digestive system. Feeling fancy? Add a teaspoon of chia seeds for an energy boost or 8 ounces of 100% natural orange juice. Give your body that boost of vitality!
2. Movement That Feels Good All Around: Whether it’s yoga, Qigong, a brisk walk, or a quick kitchen dance session (because who doesn’t love shimmying while their tea or coffee brews?), move in ways that feel joyful, fun, and natural to you. I tell my children, “I may look a little crazy doing it, but it truly helps to grab hold of the day ahead in a joyful and energized manner.”
3. Highly Beneficial Herbal Hack: Support your body with herbs like ashwagandha for energy, turmeric for inflammation, or nettle tea for gentle detoxification. Think of them as nature’s multivitamins. These powerful botanicals work in harmony with your body, providing essential nutrients and restoring balance from the inside out. Incorporating them into your daily routine can enhance vitality, strengthen resilience, and promote overall well-being naturally. *Read Disclaimer Below
Research suggests that consuming anti-inflammatory herbs such as turmeric and ginger can significantly reduce markers of chronic inflammation, which is linked to numerous diseases (Gupta et al., 2013).
LadyTea's Quick Tip: Grab a journal and jot down how your body feels after trying a new morning routine. Do you notice any shifts in energy or mood? Repeat for a week or two then evaluate, change or continue, this way you will be intentionally crafting a routine you can 1. become fluid in and 2. that works for your life in the best ways possible!
Let’s face it: life is noisy. Your mind needs just as much care as your body to stay clear, focused, and aligned. I don’t know about you, but my mind is such an important part of my wellbeing personally as well as professionally! I NEED clarity to be the best version of me to help others to be the best versions of them! Here’s how to make it happen:
Choose Mindfulness Moments: Commit to as little as five minutes of prayer and meditation daily. Can’t sit still? Try a guided meditation app or focus on your breath while sipping on your tea or coffee. Being mindful of what you consume in any area of your life can enhance your state of mind and being.
Declutter Your Mental Space: Write down three to five things you’re grateful for each day. Try not to think so hard into it, just freely write and see what comes up. Remember: Gratitude doesn’t just change your mindset; it shifts your energy!
Basic Herbal Hack: Feeling frazzled? Reach for adaptogens like holy basil (Tulsi A.K.A. “Queen of the Herbs”) or lemon balm to calm your mind and promote focus. Bonus points if you make it into a warm, cozy tea ritual! I’m a sucker for ANYTHING LEMON! Haven’t figured out why yet! HAHAHA *Read Disclaimer Below
Studies show that mindfulness and meditation can enhance cognitive function, reduce stress, and improve emotional regulation (Goyal et al., 2014).
LadyTea’s Quick Challenge: Create a gratitude jar. Each day, write one thing you’re thankful for on a small piece of paper. Watch it fill up and revisit those moments when you need a boost. I usually begin this at the start of the year and then at the end of the year I have 365 beautiful notes to myself about how AMAZING the year was!
Mini Tip: use a different color piece of paper for each month so you can distinguish what months were the most positive and revitalizing for you, then you can discover why that was easier!
Of course you know this one is my absolute favorite to share and express with you! When your Spirit is aligned, EVERYTHING else just clicks. But nurturing your Spirit requires intentional time, dedication, and practices that connect you to something greater than yourself. Here are three of my easiest ways to nurture and incorporate Spirituality into your daily wellness routines:
1. Find YOUR Center! Carve out time for Spiritual practices that resonate with you, whether it’s prayer, meditation, journaling, or walking in nature. The key? Make it sacred and consistent to YOU! Like I tell my clients, “As long as you are intentional in connecting your heart in the moment, even if words do not come to your mind, even if too many words come into your mind…Source KNOWS! Take deep breaths and know that YOU ARE INTENTIONALLY ALIGNED.”
2. Energy Alignment: Spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breath or visualizing your energy centers (chakras) aligning and flowing freely. It’s like an internal tune-up, vibrant with the colors of the rainbow!
3. Basic Herbal Hack: Incorporate herbs that can uplift and support your Spirit. Lavender can soothe anxiety, while rose petals can invite LOVE and compassion. Sip on a blend while reflecting on what fills your heart. *Read Disclaimer Below
LadyTea’s Quick Exercise: Try a simple visualization. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and imagine roots growing from your feet into the earth, grounding and stabilizing you in this moment. What does it feel like to be fully supported?
So, how do you balance all these elements without turning your day into a never-ending to-do list? Here’s a quick checklist to create a harmonious self-care routine:
1. Morning Alignment: Start your day with hydration, intention-setting, prayer, and gentle movement.
2. Midday Mindfulness: Take a few moments to pause, breathe, and check in with your mind and emotions.
3. Evening Nourishment: Wind down with herbal tea, journaling, or a grounding ritual that soothes your mind and Spirit.
*Remember, this isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating small, sustainable habits that support your unique journey to health, wellness, and holistic alignment.
Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential. Read that again! When you prioritize your health, nurture your mind, and align with your Spirit, you show up as your most authentic and vibrant self, each and every day! And when you add the power of herbs into your routine, you’re partnering with nature to enhance your well-being on every level.
